WELCOME TO THE EASTLAKE SLEEP CENTER
FOR THE DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF SLEEP DISORDERS

SLEEP DISORDERS are disorders specifically related to sleep patterns, and can result in serious medical conditions if not treated properly. Sleep disorders such as Sleep Apnea, Periodic Limb Movement Disorder (PLMD) and even persistent snoring can lead to depression, heart disease, hypertension and chronic fatigue syndrome. According to the Institute of Medicine, over 50 million Americans suffer from chronic sleep disorders.

Among the most common of these is
Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), which affects an estimated 12 million Americans. Sleep Apnea is a condition that occurs when breathing is arrested during sleep, thus interrupting the normal sleep cycle. With obstructive sleep apnea, some part of the sleeper's respiratory tract loses muscle tone and partially collapses. This disorder can become life threatening as it involves the frequent collapsing of the air passageway during sleep, resulting in a partial or complete blockage of the airway. People with OSA are often unaware of the problem, but complain of excessive sleepiness during the day.
